Pd (aka Pure Data) is a real-time graphical programming environment for audio, video, and graphical processing. It is the third major branch of the family of graphical patcher programming languages known as Max (Max/FTS, ISPW Max, Max/MSP, jMax, etc.) originally developed by Miller Puckette and company at IRCAM.

This workshop introduces Pure Data and gives an overview over
– how to install Pd and the externals to enhance the creative possibilities
– basic audio synthesis
– bringing in data from controllers via Midi and OSC

Malte Steiner is a German, Berlin-based media artist, electronic musician and composer. Steiner started creating electronic music and visual art around 1983, developing his own vision of the interdisciplinary Gesamtkunstwerk. Steiner’s musical projects are primarily the experimental electro-acoustic Elektronengehirn, the industrial outfit Notstandskomitee, Akustikkoppler (with Matthias Schuster), Das Kombinat, Embedded Artist (with Wolfgang Spahn) and TMS (with Tina MK Madsen).
